About Me
I was born April 19, 1955 in Ozark, Alabama to Pernell and Sarah Byrd. I have one brother and one sister.
I came to know Jesus on Friday night, July 23, 1965 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Dale County, Alabama.
In Spring of 1972, following a revival at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where I rededicaed my life to Christ, I began having dreams of preaching. They became more intense and compelling. It was through these dreams, I realized God was calling me to preach. Several adults knew God was calling me long before I did.
On July 3, 1972, I made public God's call to preach. I spoke with the pastor, Johnnie B. Spurlin about the call and that night, made it pubic.
I had the privilege of proclaiming the Gospel to the entire Carroll High School student body on two occassions before graduating in 1973.
I attended Samford University starting in the fall of 1973 and graduated in August 1978.
